A few weeks ago I photographed a couple renewing their vows after 30 years together. Thirty years. That’s a whole life built side by side, and they wanted to say it all over again — not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

It’s not a wedding redo


A vow renewal is not a big production. There’s no aisle to walk down, no 200 guests, no pressure to perform for a crowd. It’s just the two of you, standing together, saying the words again — and meaning them even more this time.


Some couples read vows they wrote themselves. Some just hold hands and let the moment speak. Either way is right. There’s no script you have to follow.


What the session looks like


We met in the evening, right as the light started turning gold. The whole session is about two hours, and most of that time we are just walking, talking, and letting real moments happen. I guide you when you need it — where to stand, when to look at each other — but I don’t force stiff poses. The best photos are always the ones where you forget the camera is even there.


By the end you get 100+ edited photos. Not just the big moments, but the small ones too: the way he looks at her when she laughs, the way she holds his hand without thinking about it. Those are the ones that matter most.


Why 30 years deserves photos


After 30 years, a couple has been through everything together. The photos from a session like this become something bigger than just pictures. They become something for the kids, for the grandkids, for the family to look back on and see what love looks like when it lasts.


Photos are one of few things what can freeze that special moment to be relieved forever. And a moment like this one deserves to be frozen.
